Red Line: Taipei Main Station to Taipei 101/World Trade Center Station
Starting from Taipei Main Station, take the MRT Red Line going to Taipei 101/World Trade Center Station. You have to pay NTD600 at the 5th floor to go up the observatory area at the 89th floor. So costly but it’s worth it.
Souvenir shop will be found at the ground/underground floor of Taipei Main Station.
Tip: Choose cheap yet remarkable souvenir that represents your travels.
Red Line: Taipei 101/World Trade Center Station to Xiangshan Station
From Taipei 101 to Xiangshan Station is just one station away. From the Xiangshan Station, just walk until you reach the starting point of the hiking trail. The hiking has about 1.5km long. There’s no need to worry to get lost because there are signages/directions on the road going to the mountain. The trail is so exhausting yet refreshing.
Tip: Wear comfortable clothes/shoes and bring towel, water and light stuff.
Red Line: Xiangshan Station to Jiantan Station
From Xiangshan Station/Taipei Main Station, take MRT Red Line to Jiantan, not Shilin Station ‘coz either it takes you elsewhere. Shilin market is one of the famous night markets in Taipei. You can buy and eat various authentic foods in Taiwan.
Taipei Main Station to Ruifang Station to Pingxi (Shifen)
To reach the last stop (Sky Lantern), you need to take two (2) rides going to Pingxi. From Taipei Main Station, take a northbound train (except Keelung-bound trains) towards Ruifang Station. From Ruifang Station, transfer to the Pingxi Line where Shifen Old Street is located.
Sky Lantern ceremony represents the releasing of one’s deepest fears and desires and letting go of everything. Lanterns are decorated with images, wishes and prayers.
