The Chen-Pin Fishing Harbor was established in the 1930s. It used to be the most important fishing harbor for the deep-sea and in-shore fisheries in northern Taiwan before Kaohsiung has become the base for the deep-sea fishery. It was also the main harbor for exportation of the gold from the mineral of Chin-Gua-Shi in the era of Japanese occupation. With careful observation it’s not difficult to find that the location of the Chen-Pin Fishing Harbor is on the inner harbor of eastern dike of Keelung international commercial harbor, the southern coast of He-Ping Island. It is the typical shape of “little harbor wrapped in big harbor”.
