We fly to Los Angeles for the CureSMA Conference, where we were doing several speaking engagements. Our travel to the conference was slightly complicated by a number of busses without working wheelchair lifts. Thankfully, everything with the flight was exceptionally smooth!

Shane was born with a neuromuscular disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy that requires him to use an electric wheelchair. He is the author of several award-winning books, the President of a nonprofit organization called Laughing At My Nightmare, and a renowned public speaker who has performed across the country at places such as Harvard University, The University of Florida, The University of Connecticut, Princeton University, and many more.

Hannah just graduated from Carleton College, where she studied Sociology and Anthropology. Her future aspirations include attending graduate school and owning a goat sanctuary. She films and edits the “Squirmy and Grubs” vlog.

Shane and Hannah have been dating for 3+ years and living together in Minneapolis for a year. On June 15th, 2019 they got engaged!!!! Their interabled relationship often confuses people, because much of society still cannot fathom people with disabilities being involved in loving, intimate relationships. Anyone who watches these episodes will quickly see their relationship is just as “normal” as any other. Sure, Hannah helps Shane use the bathroom and brush his teeth, but those activities do not detract from the emotional, intellectual, and physical connection they experience together.

Watching them load and unload your chair from the plane stresses me out almost as much as watching my own chair get loaded. Will I be stranded far from home with zero independent mobility?? Whooo knows

Nice toss!! I love the humor you both have!!! So fun to watch you two. Thankyou for sharing your life!.😘🥰 and listening riddends half the anxiety level! If more people involved in both customer service AND healthcare made the person or patient felt herd we would be a much friendlier society… happy the airport personal both "heard and read" what was needed.. for his chair… nice to see you also mom liz!!!😍that young lady needs to file a huge complaint!! What a mess… we need more ADA accessible places and understanding!! Damn it!!! Horrible customer care!!! Unexcusable 500%!!!

The bus driver seemed incompetent and unsympathetic. If the lift legitimately was broken (?) he surely didn't do right by you all and did not offer any customer service at all. He should've been ringing his office for you to accommodate the paying customer and moreso being in wheelchairs with a booking!

Just finished your latest book, "Strangers Assume my Girlfriend Is My Nurse" and it's a great read!! Just started the audio version of your first book, "Laughing at my nightmare" and I have enjoyed it so much!! (Dont know why/how I am doing this backwards). For all other fans, I encourage you to get Shane's books to get more of the stories, experiences and insight into Shane's world. I appreciated getting to read more of Shane's reflections on life and hearing more in detail his adventures through the years.

Btw you guys are so inspirational I'm not mad into watching a certain channel but you guys are 100% natural it's really nice to see two genuine people in love.. plus you make a living out if it lol. Spreading the love and getting paid for it that's the life 🙂 keep it up you two. Obviously theres gonna be hate comments sadly that's just human nature unfortunately. No need to pay any attention to it witch you dont. Thank god. Shane keep up with the exercise and treatment. I'm a full body abbled person nd believe it or not your an inspiration to me.

Loving this !! Question. I’ve noticed your mom coming with you and Shane on various trips (but not all I don’t think) is there a reason for this or does she just wanna hangout ? Curious! Love y’all!

Good grief! What you guys have to go through! We have a long way to go in this country with being accessible! That’s for sure! But…was happy to see how accommodating Delta was for you!

I have just been enlightened to your blogs, posts on Facebook and Youtube. I find it very disturbing that you still have to use your own makeshift seating when traveling on a plane, when they are equipped to accommodate specialized chairs? I am pleased that Delta employees have made this trip more pleasant and less stressful for all of you. I do not travel for similar reasons, with not being able to walk without the use of a scooter. It is 2019 and traveling is no longer a pleasant option nor thought for me any more. You and Hannah are amazing and I love the fact that you and your family are willing to share the daily's of life that all of us take for granted! Many blessings! And huge congrats on your upcoming nuptials!

FYI …🍄. you wash mushrooms you take a damp paper towel/towel and just wipe off the dirt, you never put mushrooms in water as they act like a sponge and soak up and fill with water

OMG . You are staying at the best Disney hotel. I would love to have me and my boys stay there for our planned 10 day holiday from New Zealand but it is SO SO crazy expensive.

I was at Disneyland during the SMA conference and I kept going on and on to my mom every time I saw someone with a cure SMA shirt. I was genuinely looking out for you guys the entire time. I hope you had an amazing trip!! (You gotta come out to Cali again and do a meet and greet)
